Brenda McAleer
Board Member Profile
Brenda McAleer, Ph.D., CM, is currently an Assistant Professor of Business at The University of Maine at Augusta and also serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Administrative Science at Colby College, Waterville, ME. Dr. McAleer has been teaching undergraduate and graduate management and economics courses for over 30 years and also conducts corporate and nonprofit management training and development. Her administrative experience includes serving as Director of Chapman University's San Diego California campus and as Academic Dean of Strayer University's Arlington Virginia campus. She has also served as Executive Assistant to the U. S. Ambassador to Norway, and as coordinator of the worldwide Key Volunteer Network for the United States Marine Corps. She has taught in business programs in public and private colleges, at small and large schools, and in the U.S, Norway, and Japan.
Dr. McAleer earned her Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences at Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. She earned her Master of Arts in Human Resource Management at Vermont College of Norwich University and her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana. In 1996, Dr. McAleer earned the designation of Certified Professional Manager through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers. She has lived in Maine since July 1999 with her husband, Rob, the Director of the Maine Emergency Management Agency.
